This Privacy Policy explains how The Ontra LLC ("Ontra," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and discloses personal information when you use theontra.com and our sourcing-matchmaking services (the "Services"). Ontra serves businesses in the United States. By using the Services, you agree to this Policy.
This Policy covers personal information we process about visitors, prospective and actual Buyers and Suppliers, and their representatives. It does not cover the independent practices of third parties (such as a counterparty you transact with, or the escrow provider), which are governed by their own policies.
We collect the following categories of personal information:
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Identifiers & contact | Name, business email, phone, company name, role/title, website. |
| Business & commercial | Products you make or supply, the colorant you are replacing, target shade, dietary/label constraints, applications/processes, MOQs, lead times, order volumes, budget ranges, certifications. |
| Submitted content | Intake-form responses and any files you upload, such as photos or labels provided as a color reference. |
| Communications | Emails and messages you send us, and notes from our interactions. |
| Technical & usage | IP address, device/browser type, pages viewed, referring URL, and similar data collected automatically. |
We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information and ask that you not submit it. We do not knowingly collect information from individuals acting in a personal (non-business) capacity beyond what is needed to provide the Services.
We are a matchmaking service, so disclosure to a counterparty is a core function. We disclose personal information as follows:
We do not sell personal information for money. Some uses of cookies/analytics may be considered "selling" or "sharing" under California law; see Section 10 for your opt-out rights.
We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregate usage of the site, such as page views and referring sources. Vercel Web Analytics is privacy-friendly and does not use cookies or collect personally identifiable information to track you across sites. Aside from any strictly necessary technologies used to operate and secure the site, we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some may affect functionality.
We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the Services, pursue legitimate business purposes (such as administering commissions and non-circumvention obligations), and comply with legal obligations. Inactive records are retained for approximately 24 months and then deleted or de-identified, unless a longer period is required.
We take reasonable administrative and technical measures designed to protect personal information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
You may update or request deletion of your information, opt out of non-essential communications, and exercise the rights described below by emailing support@theontra.com. Because the Services are business-to-business, some information must be retained to administer existing relationships and obligations.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to: (a) know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of recipients; (b) request deletion of your personal information; (c) request correction of inaccurate personal information; (d) opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information; and (e) not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising your rights.
The categories of personal information we collect are described in Section 2; the purposes in Section 4; and the categories of recipients in Section 5. We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration. To the extent any analytics or advertising cookies constitute "sharing" or "sale" under California law, you may opt out by adjusting your browser/cookie settings or by contacting us.
To exercise your rights, email support@theontra.com with "California Privacy Request" in the subject line. We will verify your request (which may require confirming information you previously provided) and respond within the time required by law. You may use an authorized agent, subject to verification.
Residents of certain other U.S. states may have similar rights to access, correct, delete, or opt out with respect to their personal information. You may exercise any such rights by contacting us at the address below, and we will honor them as required by applicable law.
The Services are for businesses and are not directed to individuals under 18 (or under 16 for purposes of California law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
The Services may link to or rely on third-party sites and tools that we do not control. This Policy does not apply to those third parties, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will indicate changes by updating the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, by providing additional notice where appropriate.
